Well what a brillliant weekend in London! After arriving by National Express coach (not the most luxurious way to travel but excellent value for money and to London in around 2 hours!) we arrived at The Browns Hotel to be greeted as if we were royalty! We received a free upgrade of both our rooms to Junior Suites and ours even had Tattinger champagne on ice - free of charge! What a treat. After our great afternoon tea in Browns (gorgeous sandwiches that just kept on coming, delicious scones that were lighter than air and sumptuous pastries to die for) we hit the shops. Jo spent her birthday money on a gorgeous Louis Vitton shoulder bag and Nicki treated herself to some Gina shoes - very sparkly! In Tiffanys Jo and I bought ourselves a necklace each - I've always wanted to have something from Tiffanys - great feeling having that Tiffany bag in my hand.
For dinner we went to The Wolseley where they fell over themselves to ensure we had a fantastic time. Jo got to choose which table we ate at, Amanda had phoned and arranged two excellent bottles of wine for us to enjoy and Jo had Happy Birthday written on her creme brulee. Upon leaving the restaurant we discovered that Steven Spielberg had been sat behind me, but it was OK, he'd just called for his car so we waited outside chatting with John the doorman until the Spielberg party came out! He was with his wife, Kate Capshaw and daughter Sasha Spielberg (who made a grand exit from the restaurant careering off the steps and into Jo! I blame the electric blue platforms she was wearing!).
What an absolutely fantastic Birthday weekend for Jo. Thank you to her for letting me share it.
So now, off to America for 3 weeks, leaving tomorrow morning! Wish me luck flying alone with 2 small children! Just hope we make all our connections and get to America safely. More soon...
